Lyon and the Beaujolais : a preserved nature and authentic villages
3 days / 2 nights

  • Visiting  “les Halles Paul Bocuse”, a huge food market in Lyon – Temple of French gastronomy – with tasting of the best local products: charcuterie, dumplings, delicatessen, cheeses…
  • Visiting the old Lyon and the peninsula, classified as World Heritage : buildings with multi-coloured Renaissance façades, secret passages with funny stories !
  • Visiting renowned wineries and tasting several Crus du Beaujolais.
  • Tasting local products: chocolate, cheese, honey…

Day 1 : Lyon

  • Private gastronomic tour through “les Halles Paul Bocuse”, a huge food market, Temple of French gastronomy ! From stand to stand you can taste the local products and the traditional recipes of the Lyon cuisine.
  • Visiting the old Lyon and the peninsula classified as World Heritage : the Basilica of Fourvière, its panoramic view over the city, the districts of Saint Jean and the Croix Rousse with their traboules, these secret passages in the heart of the old town, the quays and their buildings with multi-coloured Renaissance façades.
  • Free dinner.
  • Overnight in a charming hotel in the city Center.

Day 2 : The land of Golden stones and Villefranche

  • You cross medieval villages with ochre-coloured stone houses : Jarnioux, Ternand or Theizé, Oingt,… Visiting Oingt, ranked among the most beautiful villages of France.
  • Meeting with a master chocolatier, visiting his workshop and tasting his creations.
  • “Mâchon Beaujolais” a typical lunch with delicatessen, cheese and regional wines.
  • Itinerary through Villefranche sur Saône : Notre Dame des Marais, a collegiate church in flamboyant Gothic style with its gargoyles, Renaissance houses and interior courtyards, the chapel of the Hotel Dieu and its painted ceiling dating from the XVIIth century.
  • Visiting a family wine estate. Immersion in the terroir and the tradition to taste the best “cuvées” in a friendly atmosphere.
  • Back to Lyon.
  • Free dinner and overnight.

Day 3 : Châteaux and Crus du Beaujolais

  • Visiting an old property of the mighty Beaujeu family, and tasting the château wines.
  • Visiting a farm and tasting a regional specialty : the organic goat cheese.
  • Lunch in a panoramic restaurant on the Route des Crus.
  • Visiting a chateau and its magnificent cellars of the XVIIth century punctuated by a tasting of different Crus du Beaujolais.
  • Visiting a honey producing centre. You get to know the life of the bee, the work of the beekeeper and how honey is extracted.
  • Tasting several honeys and mead.
  • Back to Lyon.
